Staff need to be confident that the physical education, school sport and physical activity (PESSPA) equipment they plan to use is of acceptable quality in terms of its design, manufacture and durability. Such assurance is given if equipment has a British and European Standards Kitemark (BS and BS EN respectively). PESSPA equipment is best purchased from a reputable and reliable company that assures such a quality standard. Not all equipment has provision for a BS EN standard, and if this is the case, staff should seek alternative confirmation that the products they intend to purchase and use with students are safe and well made. This could be achieved through discussion with other users or research of product reviews.
